What Tiger Woods and My 82-Year-Old Mom Have in Common

By Scott Mowbray

A few days ago I went to the driving range with my 82-year-old mother and hit 100 golf balls while she hit 50. She drove the ball straight, about 75 yards. I’m hopeless: 200 yards, but the ball flies east, west, north, or straight up in an homage to chaos theory. What’s remarkable is that, a few years ago, my mom couldn’t possibly have hit a golf ball. Ayurveda - Art of Being Part 1

The knowledge of Ayurveda was handed from Brahma to Daksha Prajapati, onto the Ashwin twins (the divine doctors), then passed to Indra. Sage Bharadvaja volunteered to go to heaven to receive this wisdom from Indra, and so become the first human to receive the knowledge of Ayurveda. He passed it to Atreya, then onto Punarnavasu and finally Agnivesha.

Health Tip: Recovering From an Injury

(HealthDay News) -- When an injury forces you to take a break from sports or exercise, it's important to give your body enough time to heal. Returning too soon can lead to re-injury -- and even longer time away from the game.

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons offers these suggestions for your recovery:
  • Have your injury treated and monitored by a doctor and/or physical therapist.
  • Just after injury, use ice/heat therapy as prescribed. Treatment may also involve a brace or cast.
  • If possible, continue overall body conditioning, but be careful not to aggravate your injury.
Join a rehabilitation program to help your body recover.
  • Keep a positive attitude.
  • When you are able to practice without difficulty, and your doctor has determined that the likelihood of re-injury is low, you are ready to return to play.
